Our formal training is reinforced by live performances allowing children to sharpen their skills and build confidence, cultivate showmanship, enrich life experience, and learn about teamwork.
In February 2001, Yip's Children's Musical Theater was established by the Artistic Director Ms. Sincere Yip since she returned back to Hong Kong from USA.
There is nothing more important to a musician than performing live. Theatrically, the integration of singing, dance, drama and stage craft creates compelling performances. For years, Dr. Yip Wai-hong infused his choral concerts with dances and dramatic presentations to exemplify the appeal of each work. Examples include The Story of Mongolian Hero Ga-da-mei-lin, The Pipe Piper, and the Moonlight Festival Suite.

In January 2001, the Senior Choir of the Yip's Children's Choir presented the fable Three Trees accompanied by the Pan Asia Symphony Orchestra. After years of experience and success in presenting programmes that incorporated music, dancing and drama, Yip's established the Children's Musical Theater headed by the Artistic Director Sincere Yip. With children's choir as the basis, we believe that musicals offer more opportunities to cultivate the potential of children.

The goal of YCMT is to promote the fantastic performance medium of musical theater. We give children long-term training in musical theater dances, drama, and the musical styles and repertoire of the genre. All these areas work as a whole to foster children's creativity, imagination and showmanship.

The emotional content of a musical – humor, pathos, love, and the story itself are communicated through acting, music, dance, and the technical aspects of the entertainment as an integrated whole.

Each year, members perform in annual musical productions and the YCC Annual Concert. Since 2001, YCMT has given numerous well-received and memorable performances.
Musical Theater Preparatory Class (MTP): Members of MTP are 5 to 8 years old. They receive rudimentary training in singing and musical theater dances in a two-hour weekly course structure. MTP members are selected from the Preparatory and Elementary Choirs to ensure a strong background in singing and body movement.

YCMT's repertoire comes from mainstream, classic, and substantive musical theater repertoire of the West. The musical and artistic integrity of such works sets us apart from groups using experimental or popular-music based works of local artists. Through the arduous rehearsal and production process, our students attain a true understanding of this art form . Since 2001, YCMT has given many memorable performances. They include Little Red Hen, Tom Sawyer – the Ageless Boy, Pinocchio, Jack and the Beanstalk, The Emperor's New Clothes, Disney’s The Jungle Book kids, Disney's Mulan Jr., and excerpts of Oliver, Santa Sings the Blues, Snoopy!!!, Cinderella (Enchanted Edition), Disney's "My Son Pinocchio", "Big! The Musical", "The Little Mermaid Jr.", Disney's "Beauty and the Beast, Jr.", "Honk, Jr." , "Seussical Jr." and excerpts from "Oliver", "Santa Sings the Blues" and "Annie".
